Highlights
- Canadian/US border was smooth
again.
- 364 mile QSOs on 1.2G and
3.4G!
Ideas
- Again found that on
IC-706MkIIG, to hear USB in CW mode, need to use CW-R with 800 Hz offset,
i.e. 50.127.800. Also need to turn IF Shift all the way left or there is
too much high cut. Need to check this on 2 radios to see if I need RIT
too. Yuck.
- 50 MHz good. There is QRM unless we unplug the
laptop power supplies and turn off the transverter stack (or unpick the
band select relays).
- 144 MHz good. 13-elements is
A LOT. Very narrow beamwidth.
Remove the end of the Yagi for next time.
- 222
MHz TX broken. Remove
the end of the Yagi for next time.
- 432 MHz good.
- 903 MHZ good, great even.
- 1296 MHz really good! Always
worked better than 903.
- 2304
MHz seems very busted. Maybe LO screwed up? Very bad note on
receive. No copy on remote
end. Fix 2304.
- 3456 MHz good.
- 5760
MHz RX busted. 5 GHz worked ok w/ IF at 144.877. VERY weak RX.
- No need for CW or voice
keyers for low bands with Kevin operating.
- The new vehicle setup is good
and pretty quick to set up. 6 m is higher now and shows good SWR, but is
low enough for travel.
- Leveling is important, and
there is little play in this new setup. Used wood blocks again
successfully.
